Salt Lake Cappadocia Itinerary

The day starts at 9.30 a.m. You will be picked up from the hotel and the first stop will be an interesting underground city called Tatlarin, which is about 40 minutes (36,5kilometers) driving distance from Goreme center. This underground city is quite large in area but only a small part of it has been unearthed so far. Again nobody knows for sure who carved up the first levels, however, there is a high possibility that it might have been Hittites, one of the ancient civilizations of Anatolia. Then, of course it was the Orthodox Christians who escaped from Roman persecution into central Cappadocia to take refuge inside those underground settlements. After we are done with the underground city, we will be on our way to a Caravanserai / Kervansaray called Ağzıkarahan that was built by one of the Islamic Turkic tribes, Seljuks. Of course while driving along ancient Silk Road, it is inevitable to see a Caravanserai on the way. We will visit this “Hotel for Travellers” and then lunch at 13:00 p.m.

After we are done with lunch at 14.00, we will keep on driving toward The Salt Lake (Tuz Golu) which is a salty lake occupying a massive area in central plateau of Turkey. You will have the chance to walk in the crystal white salt and get amazing shots. After spending some quality time around the lake, we will be off to the hotel at about 6.30.
