Cappadocia Red Tour Itinerary
Cappadocia Red Tour is relatively shorter than the green line, yet it is as enjoyable as the green tour. Cappadocia Red Tour price is the same as Cappadocia Green Tour.
Cappadocia Red Tour itinerary is as follows:
Uchisar Castle: You won’t be climbing up to the castle. The bus will drop you off at a nice panoramic spot overlooking the castle. A great time to take some photos. Also, you will be given some information about the history of the castle.
Göreme Open Air Museum: It is a complex of monasteries with a lot of churches inside. The murals / frescos are dating back to 11th and 12th centuries. The paintings in the museum are brilliant, in great condition. While there are paintings all around Cappadocia, these are most probably the best in the region. They give you the impression that you are travelling back in time.
Love Valley aka Bağlıdere: Giant rock formations formed naturally over millions of years by wind and water erosion.
Lunch: A wide variety of Turkish food including salads, some nice desserts, appetizers, vegetarian options and meat.
Paşabağları aka Monks Valley: It is one of the best places to see the transition from “Stylite” kind of living into “Cenobitic” which led to the rise of a new monastic life with hundreds of followers. Life in those multi-headed mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys must have been quite difficult at the time.
Devrent aka Imagination Valley: An interesting valley where you can spot natural rock formations in different imaginative shapes. The most obvious one is the camel but to figure out the rest, you need to use your imagination.
Pottery workshop: People have been getting red and white clay from the red river, which is the longest river in Turkey, to make pottery and ceramics. We will pay a visit to a family-run work shop where you could have some idea about this 3000-year-old tradition of the region.
